The Air Force Changes its Mind

Hello all!

For those of you that aren't on facebook we have some news to announce and more photos to share. First, the Air Force decided to change its mind. We're no longer moving to Belgium, but are actaully headed to Stuttgart, Germany! Although we were certainly excited about Belgium, both the job and the family environment seem to be an improvement with the new posting, so we're quite happy (now that we're over the intial shock). I'll be working in the Headquarters of European Command (EUCOM/J5 if that means anything to you) and helping coordinate US military interaction, training, and assistance to a number of countries throughout Europe. The only thing is I now have to try and exchange my French Rosetta Stone for German.

As far as the photos go, many of you know that I (Jon) was in Cambodia for 2 and 1/2 weeks during July. I was there to help run a UN peacekeeping exercise, training UN peacekeeping staff officers. It was a great experience where I got to see some of the best and worst of Cambodian history and culture. If you want to see some pictures, click on the link below to see the facebook album with some highlights (You don't need a facebook account to see them). If you ever get a chance to take a trip there, don't pass it up. But don't forget your Pepto Bismol and anti-malarial medication either. Incidentally, Jen and the kids went to Colorado while I was gone, and those pictures are on the posting below, if you haven't already seen them. Dankeschon!

We are very excited about your latest assignment. Uncle Al has spent much time in this area and took Jen and I there for a visit. You will love it! There is so much to see very close to where you will be! Can you say FLEXIBLE?!
XO U.A and A.J.

Wow. That must be hard, to get your minds and hearts set on a certain place, and start mentally and emotionally preparing, then getting news that things there is a change! It sounds better for your family, however, and God must have known that and steered the powers that be to change their minds. Germany does sounds nice. I'm mostly German, so it sounds cool to me!
