Kate's First Meal

Today Kate got her first taste of semi-solid food, some brown rice gruel prepped by her loving Mom. We thought you'd all get a kick out of seeing her reaction to this new experience. Can't say as I blame her ... it's not like processed lukewarm brown rice is high on my list of favorites.

Grandparents unite against force feeding!!! What is this Charles Dickens Oliver?? Gruel?? Kathryn Grace...hold out for something tasty!! This is akin to poi! Gram and Pops are on the way! Ask your Daddy to break out the coffee ice cream and banana pudding! Hee! Hee! Please send new video showing happy Kate slurping up a frappuccino! Hugs to all...G + P

That is so cutie! She is trying so hard to figure out what to do with that nastiness. You can see the hope in her eyes--surely this will end and Mommy won't make me keep eating this! :)

You have got to be kidding. That poor child! Gruel for the first meal. UGH!! Brown rice? What ever happened to good old rice cereal with a little smashed banana? A little fruit makes everything better. Someone rescue our little sweetie pie!! If Grams and Pops don't get there soon, Nana and Grandpa will have to be on their way!! Katie, refuse the stuff, hold out for better choices! Love, Nana and Grandpa

I'm sure she'll enjoy you replaying that when she's about, oh, 14 or so! Hope she endured long enough to like it eventually. I happen to like brown rice (although mashed with a banana might make it a bit better). Mmm... fiber...

Is that a tear I see in Kate's eye as she is gagging on the rice cereal? She is sooooo totally cutie!!! And will most certainly get used to rice cereal, if she hasn't already!
