And now for something completely different

For a while now, I've been wanting to cut my hair. I've looked at pictures, read magazines, scanned the internet, all in hopes of finding "the" hairstyle. As most of you know, I'm pretty traditional (ha--just a little!) so big changes really aren't my style. (Except of course for the whole moving every four years thing...that's quite a big change.) But with hair and clothes, you see the same things in almost every Christmas picture. Ok, so I wanted this to be different.

Before:

After:

You might say, there's hardly any difference between those two pictures except for oh, six inches. Au contraire, mes amis! Here's one more (I actually styled this one myself...it only took reshampooing once...and a quick trip to the beauty supply store for a flat iron and some styling wax):
I think it will take a little getting used to. I do love the length--my hair has never been this short--but there are these little wings on the side of my head that keep throwing me for a loop. And despite the middle picture above, I am parting it on the side. I keep in mind, however, my friend Scarlet's wise words: it's only hair. Oh, and Jon likes it--I only asked him fifty times yesterday. As for my new hair and me, we're still getting acquainted.

WOW ! You look good. I like it. Motherhood makes us want to try new things sometimes.
Grandmotherhood does too. But then again it might just be Spring.Ha!

Ditto on the WOW! It looks modern, cool and fun! Looks great on you. I remember when going short a few times always felt clean, freeing and healthy. Did BG recognize you?? Thanks for sharing with us!! Enjoy...Love, Mom and Dad L

WOW....I am just shocked that you did it. As we all know this is pretty out of the norm for you (whereas it is totally the norm for Scarlet and me). I like it. Yay for trying new things!

How cute are you! Congrats on going for the new hair-do. I cried when I first cut my hair short before Bekah was born. Now I like it short. It is so much easier to take care of.

does this mean your hair is going to be short forever? is this your mom hair? it's cool if it is. I like it and i commend you for taking the risk. good job.

I LOVE it, Jen. Good for you! It's totally cute. And I agree - it is HARD to change hairstyles. It took me years to go short, and even then, I did it a couple of inches at a time - not 6 all at once! Love it!

Jen,
I think your new hair looks great! I'm so proud of you for being daring and stepping out there a bit! A flat iron, that one hair apparatus I have not used. If you need electric curlers to curl it under for another option, I have some from 1970! You probably remember them!
Love, Mom M.

Jen,
I am much the same. I really like it and you look like a whole new person. I tried a new style myself, only to end up with the same style a bit shorter:)
