Ordinary Things

I found some pictures and videos on my phone the other day and realized I wanted to post some of them. Here is what we do on normal days--when we're not galavanting around the continent.

Watching a video

Hiding in dress up clothes (usually from the wolves)

Shopping at the commissary with my helpers

And on Monday, we braved our daddy-less situation and headed to a nearby festival. The girls were entranced. It was busy, lots of stalls, and there was a small carnval section. Kate in particular loved watching the carnival rides. It was fun to explore (especially as one child was firmly ensconced in the stroller and the other I held by the hand. Then it started raining, and I had two kids, an umbrella, a stroller and rain to juggle. Not one of my finer moments. But we tried to make the most of it anyway.

Ellie, trying her first crepe. They realized they LOVED the Nutella on the top better than the applesauce in the middle. (Yes, that is my finger, pardon me. See excuses above and add crepe and camera to what I was juggling.)

Of course, the most fun part about rain is the puddles!

Expressing her displeasure at there being no more Nutella. She is taking refuge under a stand-up table. (Stand and eat, no chairs)

Probably the most fun was seeing and hearing the band play. We tried to get dinner in this huge hall, but I just couldn't figure out if we were to sit and wait for the servers to come to us or if I was to go somewhere and order the food. (So we left and ended up with crepes.) But while we waited, the girls loved watching and listening to the band.

I find this video indicative of their personalites. One savoring the moment and enjoying life as it comes and the other taking stock and analyzing, learning, thinking. See if you can tell which is which.

Such different personalities! That is so wonderful. You get the best of both worlds!

haha! Love the video -- that was my sister and I when we were little, except I as the younger one and the observer. :) Love that they each have their own distinct style and personality.
