Springtime

Jon is out of town this week, which is not fun, but the weather has been really nice, so we're trying to get outside more. The trees are in bloom and spring is well underway--so it's gorgeous. On Sunday, we walked to the nearby park. Here's Kate, walking down our street. The entrance to the park is between those two buildings at the middle of the picture. The cherry trees--almost as nice as the Tidal Basin. (Not really...but still beautiful!) The park is quite large. Here is the gazeebo and little pond from the hill we walked up to get to the play area. You can't see it from this picture, but the park was packed! The Germans certainly do love to get outside--a trait I hope to follow! Ellie, enjoying the sand. A little while after this picture she was dumping sand directly on to her dress and laughing out loud. It was great. Kate, grinning against the wind, in a little playhouse. The lady you see on the bench behind the house was very nice and talked with us for a while. She's originally from Croatia--which seems so far until I remember it's much closer than I realize! Heading out, Kate picked some "daffys" (taking after her Pops!) to bring home. She carried them all the way, only dropping one when she discovered a bug in it. (That's my girl. :)) But the bug flew out and now the daffys are brightening our kitchen table. A nice view of the park as well as something you definitely don't see every day. Yes, those are nuns. Hurray for spring! Hurray for the reawakening of the earth, plants, trees, and life. We have been healthy now for a solid three weeks and it's wonderful. Thank you again for your prayers!
