Big Trucks--Herndon Style

Last week, our town had their big trucks on display. If you don't already know, Kate is fascinated by big trucks, backhoes, motorcycle noises, fire engine sirens, etc. I was so excited to see how she would react to the trucks up close and personal. She loved it! In fact, we went several times during the week as the trucks were on display each day. She cried almost every time we left. I think she liked seeing all the other kids milling around almost as well as the trucks. Her favorite is the trash truck, which makes her the most excited because she can recognize it's noise as it comes down the street. On trash days, I better get in there in time to let her look out the window to see the trash truck--she gets jittery with excitement. She's so much fun! Enjoy the pictures.

I couldn't get over how small she looked by this big digger.

Off and running--she would dance across the parking lot from truck to truck. It was so funny. Check out the jazz hands.
She's not quite sure about wearing the hat, but she can tell you it's "wew-o."

"Geen! Geen!"

Finally getting a smile for the camera.

How cute is this!!! You go Kate! Not intimidated...just gets right in there. What a fun field trip!! Kate is sure enjoying these last weeks of being that only child. Pretty soon she'll be wanting to introduce her baby sister to all these things she loves. Boy, would Pops loved to have been there for this outing!!! Thanks for all these great updates. How fun! I wonder if my brother's fam (also in N. Va) knew about this- my nephews would have loved it. I especially love the jazz hands. Best wishes with the arrival of Pipsqueak!

I'm glad that big truck did not scoop up Kate! She looks so teeny.

The excursion to the big trucks each day had to be so much fun. Kate looks like she is enthralled. I can see her now aspiring to be a heavy truck operator. Ah yes, and the way she wears that hard hat. She's one tough cookie! The city of Herndon really does some fun things for kids with the big truck week and the books. That's great. I, too, love the picture of her in the Easter dress. That is beautiful! Give Kate and Pip a kiss for me. Much love,

Just thought I would say that 20 month olds aren't the only ones who like big trucks and loud noises. I still get a little giddy every time I see a train or a bus (which is pretty often in the city). Anyway, I wish I could have seen Kate skipping/dancing from truck to truck.
