Weekend Away: Part 1

We had a wonderful weekend away, just the three of us. The first place we stopped was in DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival. What a wonderful time! I've never seen the cherry blossoms blooming in person and we all just loved it. The weather was a little overcast, so the pictures don't really do the blossoms justice, but there you are. I was inspired by my high school friend's facebook page--she took pictures of the blooming trees in Tokyo--and thought it was neat to share how the "sister" trees looked here in the capital.
As you can see, the trees were blooming all around the Tidal Basin. It was fantastic!

Kate enjoyed looking at everyone and being admired by all in her cool sunglasses. Here she is posing for Daddy.
After we spent the morning in DC, we headed out to the western shore of Maryland. But that will have to wait for another day, another posting. Stay tuned!

First, what a wonderful blog you have! Great photos of the blossoms, they are truly magnificent, glad to have provided inspiration from the other side of the planet. And those glasses, don't even get me started - what a sweetheart Kate is.

Beautiful photos! Glad you all got to get down there in person. After all our years living near DC, we have never done that, sadly. Can't wait to read about Part 2 of your weekend away!

I love the pictures of the cherry blossoms. Washington, DC is one of the most beautiful places for blooming flowers. It seems that when the blooming ends for one plant, the city plants new blooming flowers to the their place. (not true of the cherry trees of course) And Kate, is that a double chin? I think the avocado and oatmeal must be agreeing with you! You are adorable and those shades make you quite classy! Love, Mom M.
